2017 IS TURNING OUT TO BE KIMPTON’S BUSY YEAR

The latest hotel opening contributing to Nashville’s reputation as a booming creative hub, Kimpton Aertson Hotel, opened this week – but it’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Kimpton’s opening slate for the rest of the year.

Nashville’s first Kimpton is the centerpiece of a new mixed-use location, Aertson Midtown, and has a crisp, warm look in its 180 guest rooms (that includes 12 suites). Noted hospitality firm Gensler are responsible for the design, which pays tribute to the property’s Dutch namesake Jan Aertson, who was around in the 1600s. Highlights include a hand-knotted painted rope installation by artists Orly Genger at the front desk, and a large double-sided fireplace in the lobby. You can get a taste for the overall aesthetic via some of the design’s details on the hotel’s Instagram. Perhaps more exciting for summer visits to Nashville is the eighth-floor outdoor pool and, later this fall, the Woodhouse Day Spa.

Before Aertson’s debut, the latest Kimpton opening was Kimpton De Witt Hotel, which opened in Amsterdam in late May. But looking ahead, most of Kimpton’s 2017 pipeline is in the US. Here’s what’s on the horizon:

Kimpton Everly Hotel (Los Angeles, CA)

Hollywood’s newest, the Everly is now taking reservations for stays starting July 28. Which means you can plan for some quintessential LA days by the 5th-floor pool, at Ever Bar or the airy-looking Jane Q restaurant. Rooms have views of the LA skyline or Hollywood Hills and look light and fresh; we love the fun pops of green detail. The lobby also looks like a refreshing place to hang out, connect with friends or work in between meetings.

Kimpton Born Hotel (Denver, CO)

Kimpton Born Hotel

Born is now taking reservations for September, according to the hotel’s website. The photos show a clubby, almost masculine feel to the rooms, which we imagine will be even more welcome when the winter comes to the Rockies later in the year. Born is located in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood, close to Union Station.

Kimpton Sawyer Hotel (Sacramento, CA)

Kimpton Sawyer Hotel

The word from Kimpton HQ and Sawyer’s website says this hotel will open in late summer. However, the site also notes that they are accepting reservations for stays starting November 15, 2017. Yet again, Kimpton demonstrates a savvy knack for a cool part of town, in this case, the Downtown Commons (DOCO) part of Sacramento, overlooking the Golden1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings. Rooms look sleek, with lots of rich textures.

Kimpton Rowan Hotel (Palm Springs, CA)

It’s never too early to plan fall and winter getaways someplace fun and warm. Which makes Kimpton Rowan Hotel in Palm Springs such an appealing option. The hotel is targeting a fall opening, and the website is now taking reservations for stays starting November 26. The pool deck looks tempting and over half the accommodations here will offer views of Mount San Jacinto State Park.

Kimpton La Peer Hotel (Los Angeles, CA)

The simple, earthy elegance of this WeHo newcomer reminds us of 1 Hotels—plants galore! La Peer brings 105 modern rooms to one of LA’s few walkable neighborhoods, and has a courtyard pool framed by a vertical garden wall and olive trees. La Peer will open in late summer; now accepting reservations for stays starting November 30, 2017.

Kimpton is also planning to open two new hotels in Charlotte, NC, in the fall.
