GRUPO HABITA TO UNVEIL TWO NEW HOTELS IN CHICAGO THIS NOVEMBER

The city of Chicago has long been known for deep dish pizza, bratwurst, and salt-of-the-earth nice people, but in recent years, Chicago has become one of the hottest hotel markets in the country. Let us count the ways: Public Chicago, Soho House Chicago, Virgin Hotel Chicago, Freehand Chicago, and the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel are just a handful of PYTs now open to guests. And there are more on the way, including two from the Mexican design hotel company, Grupo Habita.

Grupo Habita has 12 incredibly cool hotels throughout Mexico, along with one hotel in New York—Hotel Americano. At the end of November, they will open The Robey and The Hollander inside the historic landmarked Northwest Tower in Chicago, which straddles the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods.

The Robey will have 69 guest rooms that mix ultra modern design from with more grounded touches like hardwood floors. Amenities include Le Labo toiletries, complimentary WiFi, and denim robes and felt slippers. The hotel will also have The Cafe Robey, helmed by Chef Bradley Stellings; a second floor lounge which will serve as a meet-up or work space where coffee and drinks will be served; a private, guests-only rooftop lounge; and a rooftop pool and cabana club, opening in the spring.

Meanwhile, The Hollander, which will be adjacent to The Robey, is a new “Social Stay” concept for Grupo Habita, acting as a hostel/hybrid with 8 shared rooms and 12 private rooms for a total of 66 beds. There will be a bar and café downstairs with take-out options, a social room, laundry room, free WiFi, and even a bike rental and repair shop. Other amenities include personal lockers with USB charging ports, personal reading lamps, TV and refrigerators in the private rooms, and Beesential toiletries in the bath. Most interestingly, guests will even be able to connect and interact with each other before their stay via Instagram. We’re still waiting on all those details so as soon as we get them, we’ll put ’em right here.

Rates for The Robey start at $156 for a queen bedroom on November 30. An urban king room is just $180 on opening night. Booking hasn’t opened yet on The Hollander, but the hotel should open the same time as The Robey.
