We’ve been eagerly anticipating the reopening of this iconic Rive Gauche hotel after it closed in 2014 to undergo a €€200 million renovation. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer. The iconic luxury hotel, part of the group Small Luxury Hotels of the World, will open its doors to guests on 12 July. Rates start at an eye-watering €850 a night, but that will give guests a night in swish modern guest rooms, as well as the chance to swan around the hotel’s drop-dead-gorgeous public spaces, which include the Brasserie Lutetia, the Bar Aristide, and Salon Saint Germain. Breakfast will be served in L’Orangerie, while the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre will have treatment rooms, a fitness centre and a swimming pool.
Rates start at €850 a night.
Banyan Tree Resorts recently opened their first hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 1 July. While this zen brand is often known for its retreats away from the hustle and bustle, this Kuala Lumpur hotel sits right in the middle of the Golden Triangle – the commercial, entertainment and retail hub of Malaysia. Yet, true to the Banyan Tree ethos, the rooms are mini retreats from the frenzy below. Indeed, room categories are labelled “retreats” and “sanctuaries”.
Rates start at around $204 a night.
Summer time is in full swing in America – and what better time than to go wine tasting in Napa, where the days are long, the wine is top notch, and there’s a new resort to check out? The Vista Collina is set on 11 acres in Napa, and like most properties in the area, it draws on the villas of Tuscany for architectural inspiration. However, the 145-room hotel doesn’t just have rooms, a pool, a spa, and a market on-site: it also has the “Village”, which consists of nine (yes, nine!) tasting rooms from local wineries and breweries.
Rates start at around $599 a night.
Believe it: there’s another SLS Hotel on the scene. This time it’s the SLS LUX in Brickell, a downtown Miami neighbourhood that opened in mid-June. The SLS LUX differs from the SLS Brickell in that it offers all suites and residences. The suites start on the smaller end (spanning around 475 square feet), but they go up to nearly 1,800 square-foot spaces for their two-bedroom configurations. This SLS is also the first one to be designed by acclaimed interior design team, Yabu Pushelberg. But don’t worry – the usual SLS suspects are here, like the S Bar and Katsuya.
Rates start at around $200 a night.
Five-star and all-inclusive aren’t words you often hear together but the all-new Reef 28 Resort (it opened last month) in Riviera Maya has merged the two words perfectly. Situated near Mamita’s beach and Playa del Carmen’s happening fifth Avenue, Reef 28 gives guests a stylish place to sleep after they’re done sightseeing. Of course, if they don’t feel like leaving the property, that’s fine, too. Reef 28 has two restaurants, a buffet, two bars, and a rooftop hotspot.
Rates start at around $280 a night. And remember: it’s all-inclusive.
