THE TROUBADOUR TO SERENADE NEW GUESTS IN NEW ORLEANS

New Orleans, one of our favorite cities in the world, is getting yet another terrifically cool hotel—The Troubador.

Only a few years ago, hotel options for New Orleans were limited to two types—big hotel chains like Marriott and Sheraton, or small, antiquated inns. But within two years, the city has welcomed quite a few boutique and lifestyle properties such as Ace, The Old 77 Hotel & Chandlery, The Pontchartrain, and a revamped Le Méridien, not to mention all the Airbnb listings.

Now it’s Joie de Vivre Hotels’ turn to play in the Big Easy. The Troubadour will open on November 4 within a 17-story landmark building at 111 Gravier Street in the city’s Central Business District, within walking distance to the French Quarter and the Warehouse District. The guest rooms are a mix of old and new, peppered with touches of New Orleans mysticism, music and local culture. Some amenity highlights? Retro-style refrigerators, two-person bartops for enjoying in-room cocktails, and Jonathan Adler custom-scented bath toiletries.

As for the food, The Troubadour has tapped New Orleanian chef Phillip Lopez, of Root, Square Root, The Test Kitchen and Part & Parcel Deli, to handle their signature restaurant, Petit Lion, the lobby lounge which will serve cocktails and punch bowls, and the rooftop bar, Monkey Board, which will feature artwork from street artist Stikki Peaches (#bestnameever).

Rates for opening weekend start at $284 a night.
