Just in time for Art Basel, a key piece of Miami Beach’s Faena District–from Argentinian developer and Man in White, Alan Faena–will open this week, The Faena Hotel Miami Beach. Yet it will not be a full reveal.

The glamorous guest rooms, most of which are suites and are done in that bold Faena red with pops of teal blue, are ready but much of the rest of the hotel is not. Hence, the hotel is only hosting friends and family until December 21. That’s when the property will be fully realized, including the Los Fuegos restaurant from Argentinian grillmaster Francis Mallmann; chef Paul Qui’s restaurant, Pao; the Terre Sante spa; and the downstairs cabaret theater.

But if you’re in Miami Beach this week for Basel madness, you can pop into the Faena Miami Beach for a completely unusual experience–a public roller skating rink on the beach. Of course, this is no ordinary roller rink. Instead, the circular rink created by visual and performance artists, assume vivid astro focus, features kaleidoscope-style artwork while skate time will harness “the power and energy of collective creation and experiential art”, accompanied by star DJs. We’re guessing couples-only skate time is a no then.

Oh and just in case you’re curious, here’s the oceanfront view from one of the suites. Not shown: Butler service. Swoon.
