Everybody wants a piece of Uber (worth a bewildering $60 billion, give or take), hotels included. Starwood was the first out of the gate last year with its Uber partnership, with both Hilton and IHG following suit.

Now, Hilton Worldwide and Uber have expanded their collaboration through near integration of their respective mobile apps. In essence, it means that you can order an Uber from the HHonors app, while also accessing the details of your hotel stay and check in from the Uber app en route to your hotel.

From September last year, the HHonors app brought in two Uber-driven features: Local Scene and Ride Reminder. Local Scene has a list of the most popular venues in an area based on the destinations Uber riders; Ride Reminder gives a push notification when a Hilton reservation is near and pre-sets the hotel’s address in the Uber app.  According to Hilton, one-fifth of its loyalty members who engaged with the HHonors app before or during their hotel stay accessed Local Scene, making it one of the most popular features.

With these new enhancements, stay details are loaded in the Uber app, as well as the option to check in, choose a room and – where available – request a Digital Key. Another step in – literally – being on your way just that little bit faster.
