HOW MANY HOTELS ON THE MASTER OPENINGS LIST HAVE MASTERED THEIR OPENINGS?

2 -min. read

We’re almost halfway through the year 2016 and while we know you are diligently planning your outfits for your days and nights at LE (happening in less than three weeks!), we thought it was time to oh-so-casually glance back at the Master List of Hotel Openings that we rolled out at the start of the year.

Kidding.

We’ve taken a hard long look at this list and have a few notable updates to share with you–namely, which hotels have opened, which hotels are close to opening, and which hotels still need a little time to get dressed. (As Tim Gunn would say: MAKE IT WORK.)

THE OPENED

The Langford MiamiThis chic downtown hotel–the first of its kind for Miami, pretty much–opened in mid-March.

ARRIVE Hotel Palm Springs: This tech-forward property debuted in Palm Springs’ Uptown Design District in March.

Ace Hotel New Orleans: Ace blew into the Big Easy in a big way in March.

Moxy Tempe: The first U.S. outpost of Marriott’s Moxy Hotels opened in Arizona in March as well.

QT Bondi Beach: Down Under’s hippest hotel brand officially completed their takeover of the old Swissotel in January.

THE ALMOST OPEN

EAST Miami: Originally set for a May 1 opening, the hotel is now accepting reservations for May 31 and beyond. Just in time for LE. Rates start at around $195 on May 31.

W Punta de Mita: W was supposed to open this Mexican resort in March but now the party will start on May 31.

Ritz Paris: A horrible fire struck the iconic luxury hotel mere months before it was due to reopen (after a two-year closure.) Fortunately, the hotel is ready to wow Parisian visitors soon–on June 13.

THE UNOPENED

The Whitby: Firmdale’s newest NYC hotel was pegged for an April opening but alas that’s not happened. We’re not exactly sure when it will open but we’ll find out.

William Vale: Brooklyn’s super funkily designed hotel was also supposed to open in April but is now aiming for July 1.

Four Seasons Downtown New York: The luxury hotel has moved their mid-2016 opening date to October.

The Beekman: The long-awaited historic Temple Court hotel in lower Manhattan has just opened up reservations for late July.

50 Bowery: This Joie de Vivre hotel was slated for May but now its website is proclaiming at Fall 2016 opening.

Nobu Ryokan Malibu: This exclusive Japanese-style inn from Chef Nobu Matsuhisa was aiming for a summer opening but now it looks like December is a more realistic date.

Dream Hollywood: We got a sneak peek of this property and it looks amazing, but you will have to wait until later this summer to experience it fully.

The Dazzler DTLA and The Esplendor DTLA: This Downtown Los Angeles duo from South America’s FEN Hotels were slated for April but now, we just aren’t sure. Eep.

Andaz Ottawa Byward Market: The Andaz was supposed to open this spring but has now been moved back to October 1.

QT Wellington: We must have been wishful thinking when thinking the QT would open in February. It’s now TBD.

Have any intel on these updates or other notable entries on the Master Openings List? By all means, please share with the rest of us.
