Today is a new day, a new week, and a new year, and what better way to kick it off than with the Master List of 2016 Worldwide Hotel Openings. (Yes, we’re picking up the opening torch from the dearly departed HotelChatter.)

Below is a comprehensive list of exciting, noteworthy, and eagerly anticipated hotel openings for 2016. We tried to keep the list limited to contemporary luxury hotels, design hotels, millennial hotels, and luxury retreats. (Sorry, Holiday Inn.) And of course, while comprehensive, this list is nowhere near complete. If you know of a hotel that fits the description above, please do comment below with the name and opening date, and we’ll add it onto the list.

In a rush and just want the highlights? Well, it seems that hotel growth has slowed ever so slightly but a few U.S. markets are hot hot hot, like Downtown Los Angeles, which will welcome a series of hip boutique hotels, and New York, which will see the opening of the first Tommie Hotel and the second opening of a Firmdale Hotel in town. Two other notable U.S. markets are Nashville, which will open a Virgin Hotel, and New Orleans, which will get an Ace Hotel and a Moxy Hotel in 2016. Speaking of Moxy, this millennial brand from Marriott will be opening several more properties across the world. There’s only a handful on this list but we expect more to pop up throughout the next few months.

Internationally, all eyes will be on Paris in March for the grand reopening of The Ritz, while London will get a couple of Moxys, and, fingers crossed, a Nobu Hotel. Asia has several luxury hotel openings that we’re excited about, including Amanemu in Japan, the Mandarin Oriental Bali, and EDITION Bangkok, while the Middle East, especially Dubai, will have several mega-openings this year like crazy sexy cool ME Dubai, designed by Zaha Hadid.

Now for those of you who can linger on, let’s dig into all the good stuff–starting off with Miami, of course.

Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts are opening their famous Beach Club and Luxury Boutique Hotel in Dubai Spring 2016 followed by Bodrum Summer 2016.

I’m so pleased someone is continuing the Hotel Chatter tradition of the master list – thank you!

  • January 7, 2016, 12:32 am

I think you are missing Zemi Beach in Anguila and Margariteville both by Trust Hospitality . By the other hand Nikcleodium Punta Cana as the name implies will be located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, not in Mexico as listed.

I guess the list can get enormous so thanks for sharing it! Hope to have been helpfull.
