W Hotels and Resorts only just opened their first ski resort in Verbier, Switzerland last year, but they feel confident in their deep powder tracks to do it again. This time in Aspen.

W Aspen and The Sky Residences at W Aspen will open during next year’s winter ski season. They will be taking over the Sky Hotel, which is currently a Kimpton Hotel at the base of Aspen Mountain, in a joint venture between Sarpa Development and Northridge Capital.

Design firm Nemaworkshop and Rowland+Broughton Architecture, along with W’s in-house design team, will handle the makeover of the Sky Hotel, to put forth 88 guest rooms, including six suites, and 11 W-branded “fractional” residences. The W Aspen Living Room will remain a split-level hangout, but imbued with all that W sexiness of course, while the 1,600-sq.ft. outdoor patio, along wiht a rooftop bar and pool, will offer revelers plenty more places to take in the alpine air while Snapchatting, er, socializing.

The hotel will also have a full service ski shop with equipment rentals and lockers. While there is a FIT center planned for the hotel, there is no full-service AWAY spa planned. But we’re sure the Whatever/Whenever service at W Aspen will be able to handle those massage requests.
