INSIDE THE CREATIVE CLASS

LE MIAMI TEAMS UP WITH THE CREATIVE CLASS GROUP

WORDS BY OLIVIA SQUIRE

LE Miami was partly inspired by Richard Florida’s concept of the creative class, which he coined back in 2002 with the publication of his groundbreaking book ‘The Rise of the Creative Class’. In it he described the growing influence of a new, post-industrial economic and cultural group with a distinctive set of traits and desires driving the evolution of our planet. This burgeoning sector of society makes up one third of the U.S. workforce, collects half of all wages, yet accounts for 70% of discretionary spending – and it’s this crowd that the travel brands and buyers that attend LE Miami represent and cater to.

Consequently, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be teaming up with the Creative Class Group throughout the year to bring our collective trends and insights into the creative class’ ongoing evolution with regards to the travel industry. Those of you who attended in 2015 will already have experienced some of this insight at the Ministry of Ideas, where Steven Pedigo, the Creative Class Group’s Director of Research, gave a headline talk about the impact that the creative class are having on consumer habits. We’ve also teamed up with the Group’s CEO, Rana Florida, who led this year’s judging panel of creative conformists in THE REBELS awards.

Watch Rana introduce the Group above, check out some photos of Steven’s talk below, and stay tuned for further insights over the next year!
