PLAYING AT WORK
WHY IT PAYS TO PARTY AT LE MIAMI
WORDS BY KATIE PALMER
There’s a reason we dole out shades at LE Miami: because when it pays to party, they’re a next-day necessity.
But before you assume that LE Miami is all play and no work, let us stop you right there. Any savvy networker worth their little black book knows there are as many contacts to be made on the dance floor as on the show floor, which is why giving our collective the opportunity to slip into something a little more comfortable is always high on the LE Miami agenda.
Getting the week going in true LE Miami fashion, SLS South Beach is setting the bar high with Start LE Style on Monday – we’re talking cocktail-sipping poolside catch-ups among the real rebels of the contemporary travel industry. Later that evening, it’s over to the brand new Thompson Miami Beach for the opening event and a chance to mull over your Ministry of Ideas findings with some of the greatest minds in the industry.
Even with the first day of appointments under your belt, there’s no rest for the wicked come Tuesday afternoon. New for 2015, your In The Mix Passport (which you’ll be given when you register) entitles you to a specially created signature cocktail featuring Absolut Elyx in each of seven stellar hotel bars on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Yes, it’s the perfect way to catch up with new contacts off the clock; and no, we don’t suggest you attempt to try them all at once…
Cocktails drunk, Tuesday evening brings with it the second party of the week at W South Beach and yet more opportunities to bond with the industry’s elite. Take it from us: when it comes to contemporary travel, some of the brightest business relationships are born on darkened dancefloors. (Thankfully, we’ve granted you a night off on Wednesday…)
To round up the week, THE REBELS will be crowned as part of our closing party on Thursday evening, brought to you by Travel+Leisure and The Miami Beach EDITION – another new opening for this year. With appointments wrapped and only hours left until the collective disperses for another year, it’s up to you to make it count.
