We’ve been hit by a flurry of new sign-ups this November so to celebrate, here’s a bumper edition of Welcome To The Collective, highlighting just a few of the never-before-attended brands that have joined us this month. NAME: Baccarat Hotel
LOCATION: Manhattan, New York
CAUSE: Shining bright like a diamond on the streets of NYC

As the winner of last year’s REBEL for Sexiest Design, it’s only natural that Baccarat Hotel is joining the LE Miami collective proper for 2016. The Baccarat brand has been blinging up royalty and rock stars for over 250 years with its finely crafted crystals; now, its noble heritage has been translated into a glittering, opulent objet d’art in the centre of New York. The striking glass facade was designed to look like a Baccarat crystal and inside, a Parisian salon sensibility is communicated through over 15,000 pieces of crystal stemware and 17 chandeliers from the Baccarat factory in France. Ooh la la indeed…

NAME: Hôtel Des Galeries
LOCATION: Brussels, Belgium
CAUSE: Combining contemporary cosiness with historical homage

Located within the confines of Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, a former shopping arcade in Brussels’ centre, Hôtel Des Galeries draws inspiration from both its historical roots and the city’s modern resurgence as an art and design hub to create an elegant, comfortable bolthole for discerning guests. In a nod to Brussels’ reputation for interior excellence (the city is home to both Art Brussels and Brussels Design, as well as a plethora of design shops and galleries), architect and ceramicist Camille Flammarion has blended vintage furniture with pieces by local outfits such as Sylvain Zillenz and Zangra, as well as her own ceramics. The result is a cosy home-away-from-home with sweeping views of the neighbouring rooftops.

NAME: Mandarin Oriental Barcelona
LOCATION: Barcelona, Spain
CAUSE: Transforming MO five-star luxury into Catalan chic

It wouldn’t be a Mandarin Oriental without the brand’s trademark five-star approach – however, at this Barcelona offshoot there is a distinct attempt to meld into the city’s style and attitude. Architects Carles Ferrater and Juan Trias de Bes have transformed a former bank headquarters on the bustling Passeig de Gràcia into a sleek, modern outpost without eroding the building’s original charm; meanwhile, esteemed designer Patricia Urquiola brings her contemporary-retro aesthetic inside, most notably in the futuristic catwalk entrance. Michelin-starred dining from Carme Ruscalleda and Raül Balam and a space-age spa complete the picture.

NAME: Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts
LOCATION: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
CAUSE: Taking Miami glam to the UAE

Opening in early 2016, Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai will take the glamorous spirit of its Miami roots to the beaches of Dubai. Dividing its offerings into ‘high energy’ and ‘low energy’, the hotel will include 400m of private sandy beachfront, a VIP lounge with a caviar and champagne bar, a spa and Tone Fitness Centre, and one 3-bedroom ultimate beach villa. However, it remains to be seen whether the brand’s all-white parties and celebrity guests will be making an appearance…

NAME: North Island
LOCATION: The Seychelles
CAUSE: Offering refuge and rehabilitation for the benefit of guests and nature

North Island

At first glance, North Island might appear to be your ‘average’ (and we use the term somewhat ironically) luxury island retreat – pristine beaches, deck-side hot tubs, candlelit dinners by the sea, etc etc…however, this is barefoot luxury with a conscience. The island is a haven for endangered species; consequently, they have embarked on a rehabilitation programme to restore it to its former glory. This mindset is reflected through small details – for example, all eleven of its villas are created from local materials harvested during the rehabilitation process and daily menus are designed according to the latest Island harvest. The outcome is a place of refuge and beauty not just for guests looking to escape the rush of the modern world, but for the indigenous wildlife whose habitats are being restored.

NAME: The Hoxton London
LOCATION: Shoreditch and Holborn, London
CAUSE: Doubling up as a destination spot for both travellers and locals

The Hoxton Holborn

The original Hoxton Shoreditch was recently joined by the Hoxton Holborn in central London, launching with an immersive theatre experience across the rooms of the hotel,. This move is indicative of the unconventional, creative point of view taken by the brand, which has previously staged attention-grabbing events around the capital including a shipping container sleepover in Shoreditch’s Boxpark. Quirky comms aside, both properties are shining examples of neighbourhood integration, with destination coffee bars, beauty salons, restaurants and bars all making them hotspots for the local community as much as travellers. Both hotels are also mastering the bleisure trend with The Apartment, two multi-purpose venue and meeting spots designed to appeal to modern work/play habits.
